Meaning and Symbolism

• Represents the number of Earth
• The number 72 is a number known, in esoteric numerology, to be a master number. That is, a number which encompasses patterns that replicate the frequencies and vibrations certain energies of the manifested universe.
• 72  x 12=864 OR the diameter of the Sun. (The number of the earth multiplied by the number of constellations or months or disciples “12” renders, what is commonly referred to in the occult as the number of the sun 864 OR 864,000-mile diameter.
• I believe there is an as of yet unrealized significance between the numbers 72 and 23. I find them often used a conduit or bridge to the number each other in occult ceremonial ritual.  Especially the recent rash of mass shootings in the past decade.  (7+2 = 9 )+ (7 x2= 14.) 9+14= 23 (a number used extensively in occult ritual).

• 72 years equals 1° of procession.  (This is most likely why 72 holds as much religious significance as it does).
• The average human lifespan of 72 years.

• The life duration of a human ovule is 72 hours.
• December 21, 2010 (Winter solstice) was the date of a full lunar eclipse which lasted exactly 72 minutes.
• Starting at AD, every year ending in a 72, (example 72AD…172AD… 872AD… 1972AD etc) are all leap years.
• Room temperature is 72°F.
• Hafnium HF is the last stable element discovered in his number 72 on the periodic table.
• The average body contains 72% water.
• The zodiac has 12 major constellations and 72 secondary constellations.
• Rule #72 for Mormon missionaries – Do not arise before your companion.
• The “Rule of 72” is a simplified way to determine how long an investment will take to double, given a fixed annual rate of interest. By dividing 72 by the annual rate of return, investors can get a rough estimate of how many years it will take for the initial investment to duplicate itself.

• According to do tradition after God destroyed the Tower of Babel he divided the people by creating 72 languages.

• Mahavira, the 24th and last Tirthankara of Jainism said to attain Nirvana after his physical death at the age of 72.
• Thoth, according to the Egyptian creation myth, and the 72nd region day of the year from the moon in a game of draughts, as a favor to Nut, the Sky Goddess. He uses these portions to make the five intercalary days on which the remaining gods and goddesses are born.
• There are 72 stupa which comprises Borobudur, the world’s largest Temple.
• At the age of puberty, the young Parsee received the investiture of the sacred cord Kucti made of 72 linens and a symbol of the community.
